The ISARGO project aims to conduct a trans-ecosystem risk assessment of marine litter in the global ocean by developing a novel map that estimates where distinct types of debris predominate and have the potential to impact species-at-risk.
The methodological approach will:
(i) Compile, harmonize and standardize plastic litter data by marine environments to estimate litter types distribution and loads.
(ii) Estimate risk-levels for marine species-at-risk to encounter plastic litter.
(iii) Simulate and explore marine litter scenarios and their repercussion on marine life.
(iv) Communicate and transfer results effectively with different stakeholders.
