Rocio Quintana

YOUNG RESEARCHER
Born and raised in Santiago (Chile), Rocío graduated from a B.S in Marine Sciences from the University of Cádiz in 2018. The same year, she continued her studies with a MSc in Oceanography, focusing on the contributions of plastic waste in the Guadalquivir river, allowing the characterization of virtually all plastic sizes in river waters, comprising micro-, meso- and macroplastics. Her research interest includes, broadly, a multidisciplinary field in oceanography and its application to the marine environment, more specifically in the field of marine pollution. Currently, she is working as a Research Scientist in the University of Cádiz within the MIDaS project “Inputs, distribution and storage of plastic waste in the Mediterranean Sea".
